“To Turn Over a New Leaf”

Here’s a good idiom to start off our new series on idioms! Every week we will post a new Idiom of the Week on our website. This week’s is particularly relevant to The English Tree!

It’s that time of year again when we think about what went well over the past 12 months and what we would like to change. We sometimes decide to change our behavior in some way and as always, English has an idiom for this! It is a good one to remember as it is connected to nature.

Many of us have made New Year’s Resolutions about getting fit or getting in shape. If this is you then you might say, “I’ve turned over a new leaf – I’ve joined a gym and I’m going to do more exercise.”

If this is your first visit to The English Tree website you might decide to turn over a new leaf and learn English!

However you decide to turn over a new leaf we wish you every success with your new venture!
